Ashanti BIO
Ashanti is an R&B singer and songwriter known for blending contemporary soul with catchy pop hooks. She rose to prominence in the early 2000s, earning recognition for her distinctive vocals and songs that helped define the era's mainstream R&B sound. Her best-known tracks include “Foolish,” “Rock wit U (Awww Baby)” and “Happy,” while her self-titled debut album established her as a leading voice in the genre.
At BECU Live at Northern Quest Resort & Casino in Airway Heights, Ashanti is scheduled to perform with Trey Songz on. The listing identifies this as a single event, so it does not establish a history of previous Ashanti dates at the venue. A Show Beyond Expectations!
At the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas, I was mezmerized when I watched Ashanti close to the orchestra pit. The virtuosity was there as expected, but what truly elevated the experience was her enthusiasm and energy - the soul - which laced her performance throughout the evening. My friend, who had never heard of her, said it was an incredible performance after googling some videos before the show. A co-worker who was also there told me that she expected good music, but got great music instead. Ashanti worked her butt off with passion for well over two hours - never leaving the stage. She was having fun and exuded total confidence in her music. Since I knew we would be sitting close, I brought ear plugs just in case but never had to use them. Although appropriately loud for blues rock, we could hear the articulation of her voice and nuances of her playing just fine because of the great PA setup. I had watched some videos on Youtube, read about Ashanti in the guitar mags, and purchased her DVD performance at the Albert Hall. The one where she played with Danny Gatton at age 12 is amazing. I will catch her at every opportunity as her star rises.
